We’re excited to announce that our company founder and owner, Tara, and our Team Forensic Nurse, Merriam, will be presenting for the the American Academy of Forensic Sciences for the 78th Annual AAFS Scientific Conference on February 13th.
They will be hosting an in-person presentation titled “Science of Strangulation”- which is a brand new topic for us.

Merriam Young, MS RN CCRN TCRNForensic Nurse ExpertMerriam has been a nurse for 25 years, 16 of which include care of trauma patients, and the last 9 years in Surgical ICU. The last nine years she has worked in the Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Stanford University Medical Center. Merriam has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s in Nursing from San Jose State University. She has a certificate in Forensic Nursing from the University of California in Riverside. She is a certified critical care nurse and a trauma certified nurse. Merriam has completed the four-day Advanced Strangulation Course and has reviewed multiple strangulation, assault, DUI, domestic violence, and homicide cases. Merriam has been qualified to testify on strangulation, blunt force trauma, traumatic brain injury and acceptable medical practice for blood draws.

Tara GodoyBSN RN CFNTara Godoy is a Certified Forensic Nurse and has been working with Criminal and Civil Attorneys for over 10 years. She has a BS in Nursing from the University of Southern California and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Through consulting and testimony she has assisted both the prosecution and the defense in obtaining an honest and fair resolution in hundreds of criminal cases. Along with her nursing staff and physician contractors, Godoy Medical Forensics has consulted on over 1500 cases nationwide and has worked at both the federal and state levels. Tara has been asked to present for national organizations such as the NACDL and the NDIA at their Forensics conferences in Las Vegas. Tara’s main areas of expertise are Strangulation and Blunt Force Trauma, but testimony is also offered on other cases where traumatic injuries occur or medical record analysis is needed.
